0:29 - Well, good morning, everybody. My name is Paul Montague and I'm joined today by Darren Davidson. Good morning, Darren. - Good morning. - We'd like to welcome you to the 60th annual Hazel Dell Parade of Bands. Hard to believe this has been going on since 1966, but it's 60th annual. We had a little break in with COVID, but the parade goes on rain or shine. And this morning is of course a rainy and cool day. But we've still got a good crowd out watching the parade. Pretty cool. - Yeah, I don't know anybody that doesn't like a parade. Rain or shine, but sunshine would be better. - It would definitely be a lot better, definitely. So, the parade's just coming down the line and about three to five minutes away. But we wanna go on and hit, first off, the theme of this year's parade. It is 60 years strong, honoring our community and nation.
1:30 And so, just great to have everybody out this morning. Folks are prepared for the rain, or in some cases they're putting up canopies to get ready for the rain. Wanna do a quick thank you to the sponsors who have helped support this parade. And we will come back and mention them individually, but to run down the list, we've got top, our top sponsor is the Today Foundation, On Point Community Credit Union, Grover Electric, and Plumbing Supply, People's Community Federal Credit Union and we're sitting on their front lawn today, Alpine Collision Auto Repair, Columbia Steel Services, Blackbird Accounting, Red Robin Preschool and Daycare, Paul Montague Tax Preparation, Northwest Precision Tool, and Westergard Northwest are the financial sponsors. Plus, we could not do this without the support of volunteers from the Hazel Dell Salmon Creek Business Association, Park County Sheriff's Office, Fire Districts at Clark County Public Works,
2:29 and thank you, give thanks to our county council for their support, Minuteman Press, On the Spot Engraving and Music World. We're gonna have to come back to the sponsors in a bit, but we've got our first group coming down, of course, is the Clark County Sheriff's Office. Every year, we have great cooperation with the Clark County Sheriff's Department in putting on the parade. They always lead off the parade, and so we've got them going. And then this year's color guard is the Lewis and Clark Young Marines. They are all dressed in uniforms and carrying our nation's flag and Marine Corps flag, and I love that, it's being a former Marine myself. These kids and the Young Marines
3:26 are anywhere from, I think, first grade all the way through high school. (shouting) And following our Young Marine color guard, we've got the Hazel Dell Salmon Creek Business Association, parade of bands, banner being carried by young folks. And then following them is Columbia River. - Yes, Columbia River High School is our, the Rapids is our first band today, directed by Dave Kechels-Shartley. And then they have 40 members, two drum majors, Madison Fulcher and Jordan Lopez. They have black, purple and gold check mark uniforms. And it's, we're gonna, your guess is mine as far as what they're playing today.
4:23 Sounding good today. - Oh, they do sound great today. Really, I take my hat off to these kids who are out here in the rain and just marching. It's great to see them out here. Following them is Boy Scout Troop 320, 50 320. These, this is the oldest scout troop in Clark County. And this troop starts the parade. They're always here at the start of the parade. And then they come around and are at the end of the parade where they're picking up trash. And so kudos to Scout Troop 320. - Absolutely, they've been doing it several years now. - Oh, they've been doing it for many, many years,
5:22 at least as long as I've been around. And I'm trying to go back to the dim dark recess and to remember when that might be, but it's been a while. So next up is the Clark County Fair Equestrian Court. The Clark County Fair Equestrian Court are ambassadors that represent Clark County Fair and parades, rodeos and community events throughout the year. We have Queen Heidi and Princess River on some gorgeous horses. Would like to invite you to the summer's best party at the Clark County Fair, starting the first Friday of August. And that's August 7th through 16th this year. Next up is On Point Community Credit Union, one of our great sponsors. On Point Community Credit Union, let's see, do we have, let's see, I've got a little write-up on them real quick. On Point Community Credit Union serves over 600,000 members in Southwest Washington, Oregon, with safe, secure
6:22 and convenient access to a full suite of financial services. We've, they're a dedicated community partner with a purpose of building strong communities by supporting financial growth and wellbeing one person at a time. So thank you for your financial support, On Point, as well as thank you for coming out in the rain today. Following On Point is Skyview. - Yes, Columbia River and Skyview always alternate, playing the Star Spangled Banner. And so they're second this year. They're playing "I Want You Back" by the Jackson Five. Their band director is Tim "Mr. H" Heikleman. Their drum majors are Jenea, Josias, Addison Gaines. And then their dance drill is Cynthia Courtney. Let's sit back and listen to the sound of the Skyview Storm.
7:20 (audience applauding) ("I Want You Back") - 110 members strong. - Yeah, 110 members, wow. - Got a great sound. ("I Want You Back") All the mini parades that I marched in, I loved the parade. - Yeah, oh god, yeah. - I didn't much like the rain, but I love the parade. - I love the parade, definitely. All right, and following them are this year's Grand Marshals, and a tractor on a trailer, and it looks like it's covered.
8:17 So we've got 10 retired band directors are this year's directors, or this year's Grand Marshall. Great to see you guys. So Evan Irwin, Steve Robertson, Don Nelson, Richard Gellman, Lauren Haskell, Greg McKelvey, Gary Bong, Jim Hill, Chris Sandstrom, Glen Hanson, Bob Thompson, and Jim Eafrati, and David Kinche, and they're being carried by busy farms, trailers, and tractors, and luckily be able to stay relatively dry in this weather. Next up is Red Robin Daycare, preschool and daycare. Red Robin is a family-owned operated program proudly serving, let's see, proudly serving community for over 45 years. They provide a safe, nurturing, fun environment for children ages two and a half through 12, supporting growth, learning, and lifelong friendship.
9:15 They welcome families to reach out and inquire about enrollment, love to be a part of your child's journey. Next up, after them, is Michelle Belcock, county counselor. Michelle is running for re-election this year, but she's been on the county council, I believe, for four years, if I remember correctly. And give your thanks to Michelle. I will say one of the things that's been great is Michelle and the county council this year, there was an issue of funding for road services, or being able to block off for the county to come out and spend the manpower to block off the roads for the parade and support the parade. And so Michelle and other county councilors voted to make this possible and help underwrite the cost of providing the services. - Yeah, without feeling this wouldn't happen. - Yeah, exactly. So if you see a county councilor,
10:15 please thank them for their support of the Hazel Dell Parade Advance. Let's see. Next up, all right, is Heritage High School. - Yeah, our next band is Heritage High School, directed by Jay Cobb and Phillip Scamahorn. The 140 members strong, their drum majors are Lorelei Medina and Ryan Perez. They have 14 in their dance drill. They're in their marching purple, black, and white uniform today. And their color guard is their present as well. They're playing "Heroes of the Night" and other song to be determined. Let's sit back and listen to the sound of Heritage High School. - Definitely. (drum music)
11:22 (marching band music) - Great sound. - Oh, it is. - Definitely great sound. There are a hundred, no, that's Heritage, how many members? - Yeah, 140. - 140 members. Very cool. Next up is Triple Threat Cheer. It's a youth cheer sports for kids that want to get in to cheer, and it's great to have them out as a parade entrance today. We've got cheerleaders of all ages out there, as well as it looks like family members as well,
12:20 with a SUV with a patriotic duck sitting on top. I love it, I love it. Thank you for coming out. And so, and then following them, well, we'll take a look, it's, let's see, who we got? Okay, let's see what we got next. Is this the YWCA? - YWCA, yep. - Okay, it does look like, okay, we'll go with the YWCA is next today. And the YWCA Clark County, they're gonna have kids walking with staff members and their preschool participants and families promoting awareness and enrollment in their therapeutic school programs. 13:18 Good morning, Scott, nice red Corvette convertible. He's there. I know I had my heat turned all the way up. I was in there. - That would be nice right now. - Be very comfortable. Next year, we gotta get a space heater or something out here. - I think so. - Definitely. Okay, so real quick, we'll do a quick sponsor. Thank you to Today Foundation as our prime sponsor. They have come up for the last several years. In 1993, professional player, baseball player Randy Myers and a group of individuals from Southwest Washington established the foundation to help support youth athletics and other local youth programs in need. 44:32 There has to be 20 to 25 horses there. There's gotta be a lot, they're really gorgeous horses. Horses sort of trying to march in, you know, march into, I don't know. Can't ride a horse without a cowboy hat though. Yeah, oh definitely, very colorful group here today. And thank God, you know, how many horses do they have? They've got 20 horses is what they said on their registration paper. There's more than 20. (laughing) There's definitely a lot of horses. There's more than 20 today, beautiful. It's great turnout for them. And like I said, great restaurant. I've got a group that meets there on some Thursday mornings at seven o'clock and they're there ready for us. I'll have to try it out, I've never been. Yeah. Next is, actually, Brent Henrich.
45:27 Said we were gonna have John Lee, but it looks like we've got Brent Henrich for Washington. Brent is running for the Third Congressional District. He's another candidate running for the Third Congressional District. We've got him, Marie Blues at Camp Perez and John Braun are that, believe the candidates that are leading up to the primary. Next up is Frontier Middle School. Frontier Middle School, directed by Jennifer Ferguson and Donna Heagle-Flores, 84 members strong. Dance Drill Director is Michael Carr, 16 members of the drill team. They have a navy blue t-shirt, black pants, and all of them have their navy hat on as well. They're playing rawhide and painted black. They got first place
46:26 in the Middle School Large Group Division at the 2024 Clark College Jazz Festival. 84 members strong and playing very, very good today.
46:49 (drums beating) Followed by their drill team. With silver and blue sparkling pom-poms. - And uniforms as well, yeah. - Blue uniforms. Looks like a shooting star coming down. - And here we go. Here are the Afifi rodeo clowns are here today and these guys come out every year. They are always in these very colorful clown costumes and outfits as well as these antique go-kart kind of vehicle. They are here, I gotta do a shout out to Ron Fryer and his wife Rosemary. They are celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary here today, so great to see them out here. Next we've got Clark County Search and Rescue
47:47 is next and they've got a trailer with about 14 search volunteers out here in uniform and on foot handing out candy. I gotta tell you, Search and Rescue, there are a lot of people that are out there hiking that probably shouldn't be. These guys go out day or night to help people out and really rescue people who are out in the woods. Okay, next up is Amboy Middle School. Amboy Middle School, 52 members strong. Directed by Jeremy Gallagher. Their drum majors are Addy Morrison and Rager Newton. They have six members in their drill led by Karen Stewart and Chris Nordberg. They're wearing a black T-shirt, theme T-shirt and blue jeans. They're playing hand clap for us today.
48:46 (jazz music) Next up is Elect Ben Chrisley. And Ben's running for the state representative position in the 17th legislative district. He's got his team of supporters out here parading for him today. And it's great to see all our candidates. We got lots of candidates out here running for office. Next day is, next up after them is the Northwest Corvette Association. They are out carrying the Planters Day Princesses. They are located here in Clark County and we've just got some great, so we've got the Planters Fair Court is who we've got here, these young ladies riding-- - Every color of the rainbow in those Corvettes.
49:46 - No, definitely, gorgeous vehicles, I'll tell you. And the neat thing about Corvettes, these guys have a variety of ages. You look at some of these and they're later models. They're more recent models, but then you look at some that are a couple of decades old. They're a couple of decades old. And these vehicles definitely maintain their value over time, so it's really great to see them. And it looks like they're gonna have about 20 cars out here today. So, and that's the Northwest Corvette Association. Great to see them out here today. And let's enjoy these Corvettes. Actually, next up, for our last financial sponsor, we really wanna thank Westergaard Northwest. And I've gotta find my notes on them. Isla Westergaard has been a long-time member
50:43 of the Hazeldale Salmon Creek Business Association. She was the actually Grand Marshal last year in the parade and supported the business association and the parade for a number of years. Westergaard Northwest functions as an editing resource and operates primarily in Clark County with a variety of short and long-term clients. Isla Westergaard is here. And then also, I wanna just mention, Isla always sends me a note every year, and we need to thank Chase Bank. Chase, the Hazeldale branch of Chase Bank lets all of the horses hang out in their parking lot in preparation for the parade. So all the folks with horses show up with their trailers and-- - And leave a little gift. - And leave little gifts there, and then they get cleaned up. And so thank you to Chase Bank. Wanna definitely do that.
51:40 And so next up, of course, is Brian Schall, who is running for, let's see if I got him down. He's running for County Counselor District One is who Brian Schall is running, the office he's running for. Just a group of supporters for him out here. And again, another candidate running for office. And it's just great to see all these candidates out here braving the rain and weather and all the rest of it to be out here today. And after that is valiant roofing. I don't know about you, but a thing you don't wanna have is a leaky roof out here in Clark County, in the Pacific Northwest. Just does not do you any good to have a leaking roof. And of course I'm looking for their sheet and I don't see it.
52:39 But valiant roofing, great supporter of the parade. Great to see them here. And if you have roofing needs, check them out. Okay, so after them is McLaughlin Middle School down there. Well, we'll- - Yeah, we got some time. - We got some time. Okay, so the one thing I haven't mentioned, a couple of things. One is we have a number of in-kind sponsors that support the parade every year. And really the parade could not happen without their support. I've mentioned the Clark County Sheriff's Office. They again provide great road and traffic support and the like for the parade. Fire District 6 pretty much hosts the parade every year. Clark County Public Works, like the Sheriff's Department, helps make sure the parade route is safe for all the people who come out to watch the parade by closing off the roads.
53:38 Minuteman Press does the printing for our posters and other things in the parade. On the Spot Engraving engraves the awards that we hand out. And the Music World, we could not do this without the support of Matt and Jody Golke at Music World who collect and gather and coordinate all of the bands who participate every year. Next up, McLaughlin Middle School. McLaughlin Middle School, directed by Keith Norris. 70 members strong. Wear red polos, black pants today. This is gonna be Jeopardy! What are they playing today? Sounding strong. - They do sound strong. It's great to see these kids out.
54:30 - All right, next up is Elect Ty Stover. Ty Stover is one of candidates running for county auditor. Ty is currently a Vancouver City Council member that has served for a number of years on the Vancouver City Council. And so he's running for the county auditor position. Next up following him is the VFW 7842 and Amvets 6. These guys are great supporters of our vets. And they've got two veterans of US Navy operating some Vietnam era stuff. And actually pre-war and Model T vehicles as well. So that's Amvets and pre-war Model T. Let's see. Next up, Prairie High School I believe.
55:30 At least that's who's on the list. We'll see. - It's on the list. I thought that's Prairie High School. It is. - Okay, great. - All right, Prairie High School. Directed by Ryan Messling. 100 strong drum majors. Zander Larmen. Sarah Armisen Estevez. Drill dance lead is Bree Lloyd. 15 in the dance and drill. Playing dig a little deeper and going down the bayou. Wearing green shirts, black pants. (band music)
56:25 I like the beat.
56:53 And next up is Mike Pond for the 49th Legislative District. We've got Mike Pond and Kim Harless. I believe we've got somebody else running for it. But we've got, here's Mike Pond's group. It looks like he's, there they are. Everybody wave to the camera. All right, there we go. So there's Mike Pond running for 49th Legislative District.
57:23 Definitely a very loud group. There we go. Vancouver West Soccer Club is who's up next. Vancouver West Soccer Club. They're gonna have 75 to 100 soccer players. At least that's what they're saying. Out promoting Vancouver West Soccer Club. Celebrating 14 years. They've been around providing this soccer coaching, playing and just great to have them out again this year. Great little well decorated golf cart with blowing bubbles. And these kids in their white and black uniforms. They do have 75 to 100 kids with it. They got these oversized soccer balls rolling down the street. Six foot high soccer balls. Very cool. So, you know, that's athletics. I don't care if it's soccer, little league, football, cheer. It's great to see kids involved. - Really brings the community together. - Yeah, it is. It's something that brings families together.
58:23 It brings communities together. And so it's fun to see. And this is a good group. Actually of all the youth stuff, I think this is the best one we've seen yet. - Yeah, they have the most. - They've got the most. They are definitely enthusiastic. So that is Vancouver West Soccer Club. And so next up is we've got actually, the Let John Zingale is up next. John is a candidate for, I believe, the County Council. Number four, oh, here you go. I'll take one. You want one? Here we go. Thank you. - Thank you. - Oh wait, just all, all we need is one. Thank you. - You guys want a fire? - Huh? - You guys want a fire? - No, we're too old. But you guys have a great parade. Okay, so next up is John Zingale who's running for County Council District Two. And then following him is Deacon Lettnich
59:23 who's running for State Representative District 18. Randy Knott is running for State District, no, I'm good, thank you. State District 18th as well. So we've got a good turnout here today for a bunch of Democratic candidates. And then we've got Hudson's Bay High School. Hudson's Bay High School, directed by Craig Bunch. They're sporting their core style black, white, and yellow uniforms. The Marching Eagles. Let's sit back and listen to Hudson Bay High School. (upbeat music)
1:00:16 (marching band music) All right, next up is Addiction Powersports. They're Clark County Fair entry. Look at these things. They've got all these big four-wheelers. Okay, they invite you to side-by-side races at the Clark County Fair on Wednesday, August 12th. UTV Racing is the most exciting competitive fun off-road motorsport today. Don't miss all the fun grandstand activities at the Clark County Fair returns on August 7th through 16th. When they, as they say, blast off to fun. - Kinda hard to hear ya.
1:01:13 - Yeah, I don't know if they heard me or not, but. And then next up is, let's see. I believe this is, let's just check. Oh no, this is Hampton Auto Glass. Hampton Auto Glass is next up. And of course, now the rain is back. Luckily, it's not too bad, but it's back. And Hampton Auto Glass is out here today. It's great to see them out here. They've got their truck and trailer and two locations. Got a West Vancouver and East location, East Vancouver location to serve you. And so really nice, a lot of red, white, and blue on their trailers, so Hampton Auto Glass. - They just fixed a chip on my windshield. - Oh, they did. All right, very cool. So next up, let's see. We had somebody else next, but let's see what happens. I think it's just, well, we've got somebody
1:02:12 in front of the van, we'll see who that is. So this, you know, in all the years we've been doing the parade, I really think this is the first one where we've had serious rain. - It's the first time, I moved here in 2018. It's the first time I've been here with rain. It's threatened several times, but it's never done what it did today. - Okay, so next up is Eileen Querring O'Brien, who is running for County Auditor. She's here in a convertible, Ford Mustang convertible here, and like I said to her, and a few supporters are out here running for County Auditor. So that's Eileen Querring O'Brien. And next up is Liberty Middle School. - Liberty Middle School, directed by John Newman, 50 members strong, they have matching t-shirts, black pants today.
1:03:10 They're sporting their white t-shirts. They're playing the Thunderer, Manhattan Beach March, the Stars and Stripes Forever, and I think they just finished the Stars and Stripes for us. They participate in the Loyalty Day Parade, middle school band, and they were the winner in 2025. (jazz music)
1:03:57 - Next up is John Lee, who is running for reelection in the 18th Legislative District. And then we've got Laurel Smith, is running for County Prosecutor. I think Laurel is unopposed, but she is a great candidate, a veteran of the County Prosecutor's Office for a number of years, and so she's running for election. Tony Golick, who served as County Prosecutor for many, many years, has elected not to run for election and is retiring this year. So we thank Tony for his service, and we will look forward to Laurel's service in the future. Next up is GCC Northwest, Cascadia Tech. Cascadia Tech, I don't know if you're familiar, it's the old Clark County Skill Center.
1:04:54 They have, God, I want to say 50 different programs for kids who are learning different trades and skills. They compete nationally and win awards nationally. And the Cascadia Tech program, it's something that construction, electronics, computers, you name it, they really have a just really strong presence. - What amazing clothes. - That was built by the kids at Cascadia Tech. Next up is Changing Hearts Foundation. Changing Hearts Foundation is, they help families and individuals with daily necessities and needs that they may need and not have access to. So thank you very much for being out. Next up is, I think that's still the same group. Let's see, hold on a second, yeah, Changing Hearts.
1:05:53 Next up is Cascade Middle School. So Cascade Middle School, directed by Steve Cascade and David Duarte, with 120 members. Their dance and drill director is Eva Darling, Callie Carl, and Alexis Ike. 40 members in their dance and drill. They're wearing red polo shirts, black pants, and they're playing Grand Old Flag, the Cascade marching band from Evergreen School District in Vancouver, Washington, has a long tradition of excellent parade bands, winning the sweepstakes award in the Junior Rose Parade twice in recent years. Cascade prides itself on having a well-balanced music program with successful concert, jazz, and marching bands. Cascade is proud to represent their school and community in the Junior Rose Parade. Now let's sit back and listen to the Grand Old Flag. ("Grand Old Flag")
1:06:51 - It's a large middle school band. - Yeah, it is. - How many are in the middle school? How many are in this one? - About 120. - Wow. Great to see their cheer team in their red, white, and blue outfits, very colorful. All right, next up is Family Resource Home Care. Who's up next? They're celebrating home care clients from all around the world.
1:07:48 And then after them is Martin Pidione for Clark County Position 2. Martin's just got, again, this is an open season this year. So we've got Martin's out, Pidione, he is out for County Council District 2. Got him and a number of supporters out. And then following them, looks like Ridgefield High School. Ridgefield High School has 79 members. Emily Brabant is the director. The percussion director is Jeff Bush. The color guard captain is Cassandra Martinez. They're playing Havana, and then I Want You Back. Their music program includes wind ensemble, concert band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, pet band, student jazz combo, and muck nuts ensembles. They're wearing their blue polo with black pants.
1:08:46 Three color guard in front with a... Ridgefield High School, they're, they've got these good songs out there, all right? And next up is Sharon Wiley. Sharon is running for County Auditor. It's great to see, and her husband, Ted Gaethje, out today. They're in a convertible with the top down. That is definitely dedication to be out here with the top down in this weather. - Yeah, I think I wanna put the top up. - I'd have a top up, definitely. And so just time for a quick shout out, and thank you. I gotta thank, in addition to all the in-kind sponsors,
1:09:44 thank all of the volunteers. We have a number of volunteers that make this event happen every year. We've got Ham Radio, or Clark County, Ham Radio, or not, I don't know if it's Ham, but a radio team that helps out with communications every year. We've got a number of volunteers from the Hazel Del, Salmon Creek Business Association, and others that wouldn't, this parade wouldn't happen. Okay, next up is Tails In, the Tails In. They're poo crew, 13 years of picking up after your dogs so you don't have to, that is pet waste removal. They will come to your house and go through your backyard, pulling, you know, picking up dog poo. Just, that's, my hat's off to them. Next up is we've got, I believe, okay, so this is, let me see, we've got Community In Motion is who's up next, providing 80 years of service,
1:10:44 welcome Community In Motion. They provide essential transportation services for Southwest Washington residents who need them most. Today, they are highlighting their volunteers in motion program, serving older adults and people with disabilities throughout Clark County, connecting neighbors to medical care, groceries, and other support and services. They're playing Animal by Neon Trees. Their recent award was in the Fred Meyer
1:11:42 Junior Parade Smooth Stakes. They won that in 2025. They're not letting this rain bother them. It's really coming down. (drumming) - You know, that's the great thing about being a teen is you're a heater. Your metabolism's going strong so they can stay warm in this stuff. - The parade must go on. - It must, definitely. - Looks like a dozen color guard. - Oh, they are very-- - With their red flags and-- - Yeah, red flags and silver and black uniforms, yeah.
1:12:34 - At least they're putting a smile on. - Yeah, definitely. God bless. Okay. So it just, the parade doesn't happen without the support of all these different groups. And the other thing I'm going to mention is if you're out and about, we've got a number of businesses that they shut down while the parade's going on. And so if you get a chance, go buy Cat and Chinese Buffet, Domino's Pizza, Baja Fresh, Fred Meyer, Hoosteds Hazel Dell Lanes, Valvoline, People's Community Credit Union, Chase Bank, Billy Blues, Buffalo Wild Wing, Hallmark Shop, LA Fitness, the MJ Plaza Complex, Panera Bread, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Muchas Gracias, Burger King, Peachtree, Hazel Dell Center Complex, Totem Pole Shopping. Okay, next up is Kim Harless. Kim is running for the 49th Legislative District.
1:13:34 She's out with some of her supporters here in the parade. And so Kim is currently a Vancouver City Council member. And so she's running, I think it's her and Mike Pond, and I'm sure we've got somebody else that's running against them for the 49th Legislative District. So kudos to Kim and her team and supporters for being out here. And just to finish up, Totem Pole, Columbia Bank Dollar Tree, and Mr. Maple Donuts. Oh, I love Mr. Maple Donuts. We don't. (laughing) - Well, many of them actually gave to the Lions Club, donuts for the Lions Club to sell today, leading up. I know the volunteers started about seven o'clock this morning. - Yeah, and it's great to see folks out here so early in support. - Okay, so next up is, I believe, the Haunted Library. And so the Haunted Library, or Laboratory, I'm sorry,
1:14:33 Hazel Dell's Free Haunted House, where your phobias come to life, October 23rd, 24th, 30th, 31st. Look 'em up at thehauntedlab.com, and you'll see where that haunted house is. That should be entertaining around Halloween. And next up, after them, let's see who we get next with the Haunted Lab. So this parade, it really does, some people get business. It's like, you know, Target is where everybody stages, but it's along the parade route where people, you know, aren't able to get to these folks who are closed while we're doing this. Next up is the Connections Church. They've just got Connections Church. They've got members out here in church T-shirts and sweatshirts. And again, they're on St. John's Northeast 52nd across from Habitat for Humanity is where they're located.
1:15:32 And let's see, we've got, let's see, another couple of Kim Harless supporters are coming down with signs and stuff. 1:16:48 (crowd applauding) - 28 bands in the parade today. - Oh yeah. - With that big, huge mass band, had them in about five or six. - Yeah. - And then 23 others? - Yeah. - 28 bands. - Great turnout today. Okay, next up is Glacier Northwest. Glacier Northwest comes out every year. They come out with their really large mixer. It says Glacier Northwest's cleanest mixture. (laughing) - They were the first to get here this morning. - I guess it's surgically safe or something. I don't know. But they are always out early and they're always participating in the annual parade. It's great to see them out. And following Glacier is Elect Bardu or Lucas Bardu. Lucas is running for again, Clark County Council.
1:17:46 This time it's for seat number four. And so one of many candidates running for office this year. It's gonna be an interesting race, both for county council, the legislature. We've got, it'll be an interesting third congressional district. And then following them is Pioneer Garage Doors. We don't have an entry paperwork for him, but Pioneer Overhead Garage Doors. And if you need help with your garage door, it's broken or you need a new one, or you'd like something more decorative, I guess you could go to Pioneer Garage Doors. Next is Canvas High School Marching Band. I think that is the last band. - The last band. The big red marching machine. Their band director, Jared Sorum. Drum majors are Joshua Limb and Tatum Hoffman. Wearing red and black, their core style uniforms. Giving us a nice salute there. They're playing trooper salute.
1:18:46 The big red marching machine has a long tradition of parade excellence and is proud to represent Canvas in the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands. - Excellent. - Been a great addition to our band this year with Canvas coming over.
1:19:07 These kids in all these bands rehearse in pretty much all school year to get ready for this. - Absolutely. Hours and hours of practicing the song, memorizing. You don't see any sheet music in front of them. All right. And what we've got here now, it'll get a little slow after this, but we've got the last on the list, of course, is Boy Scout Troop 320. 5320 are who, as I mentioned at the start of the parade, they're in the start of the parade and then they come around to do cleanup at the end of the parade. And let's see who that is. I don't know if that's their truck or not. Yes, it is. It's the same truck. It's these same kids.
1:20:05 These kids, and you'll see them coming down the road, these kids marched the route twice. - Got rained on the whole time. - Rained on the whole time today. So we'll just sort of give them, again, a shout out and a final sort of quick shout out to all of our sponsors, Today Foundation, On Point Community Credit Union, Grover Electric and Plumbing Supply, People's Community Federal Credit Union, Alpine Collision Auto Repair, Columbia Steel Services, Blackbird Accounting, Red Robin Preschool and Daycare, Paul Montague Tax Preparation, I gotta throw it out, Northwest Precision Tool, Westergard Northwest, and then all of our in-kind sponsors, Clark County Sheriff's Office, Clark County Fire District 6, Clark County Public Works, Minuteman Press, On the Spot Engraving, and Music World, and really all the volunteers
1:21:04 that help put this on every year, and especially this year, coming out in the rain and dealing with it. We're lucky we've got a canopy, but all the people marching and watching and helping out with the parade aren't quite so lucky. So I guess with that, it's a chance to give a final thank you to everybody who joined us today. We hope you enjoy the parade. This is actually one of the shows that gets the most views on CVTV. If you wanna see this in the future, go to cvtv.org and look for Hazel Dell Parade. They've actually got 'em going all the way back to 2019. So thank you all for joining us today. Darren, thank you for joining me today. - Thank you, Paul. - It was great. I will say all of our band directors were in the parade,
1:22:04 so it was really great to have you, and I think we did okay. - Well, like Brad says, the parade goes on regardless. (laughing) - So thank you for joining us, and have a wonderful summer. (dramatic music)
1:22:30 (dramatic music continues)
